Fellow Nurse and friend Joyce RN (Joy), was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in November of 2005. Now she is a Breast Cancer Survivor and
here's the way you can help.

2007 through the first quarter of 2008. The credits will be used to purchase raffle ticket
items for the 2008 Relay for Life of Roxborough.

Team Joywalkers raised $6348 for the 2007 Relay for Life, putting us in fourth place.

The Relay for Life is a 24 hour Cancer walk that is held all over the United States. It is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The Roxborough Relay is in its 7th year, and thanks to tons of support we grow every year. Both in participation and money raised. Last year we raised over $59,070. It is held at Roxborough H.S. track, with a bunch of different teams assembled for fund-raising. The way it works is that a member of your team must be on the track walking or running for 24 hours, while the rest of your team sets up a booth and does more fund-raising. You can camp out all well, and they sent up tents on the "Mudflats" baseball field. There is an "Illuminary Ceremony", where candles are lit all around the track in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us, and there is a survivor walk. All the living cancer survivors get together and go a few laps. It is really an awesome, emotional, and overwhelming experience.
Cancer does not discriminate. It does not care if you are Black, White, Yellow, or Green. Cancer does not care if you are African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, etc. Cancer kills!! Sometimes fast, most times slow and painful for both victim and family. Please on everything you find holy, help support us and cancer research, and donate today.
